Individual Income Taxes: This requires the filing of forms 1040 and 140 and they are due by April 15. Most people are not aware that an extension can be filed to October 15. If taxes are owed at the time an extension is filed, the tax is actually due at that time. There is no extension on the payment of taxes, just the filing itself.

Business Income Taxes: Fall under several categories. Due to the complexity of these taxes, I welcome a more in depth conversation at anytime by calling into the office. The various types of filings are:

  • Schedule C: Sole Proprietor
  • Form 1065: General Partnerships, LLC, LLP, PLLP
  • Form 1120S: Sub-Chapter S Corporation
  • Form 1120: C Corporation
  • Form 990: Non-Profit Organization

Payroll Taxes: Each Business has the responsibility to file timely tax deposits for payroll withholding. This is typically by the 15th of the following month. At the end of each quarter numerous tax forms must be filed, both federal and state.

Tax Payment Arrangements: The biggest tax problems come in the form of non payment of self employment tax and payroll taxes. IRS and the States will accept payment arrangements on existing liabilities. Keep in mind they do impose penalties and interest for non-payment and in many cases you can expect a lien filed with your county recorder.

Offers in Compromise: At times the tax liability is so large that the tax payer will never see it clear to fully pay. Under certain conditions there is an advantage present an offer that could be pennies on the dollar. If your taxes have become a burden, then we should talk.

Audits:
All tax payers either it be individuals or business are subject to the possibility of an audit. This may be a daunting experience. We highly recommend a third party representative in your behalf. A good representative knows how to listen and when to speak to a government agent. Our audit engagements have proven to be highly successful in behalf of the taxpayer, with either no change to even additional refunds.
